Katja Nemtsinkoff, Research Scientist
Katja Nemtsinkoff joined Kemira R&D Center in Vaasa, Finland in 2003. Kemira was already familiar to her because she had done her thesis for the forest industry company UPM and Kemira was a chemical supplier in the project. In Vaasa Katja worked as R&D scientist and Application specialist in a technical marketing group. In summer 2009 she transferred to Kemira Espoo R&D Center. Her title is now Research Scientist.
Katja works within the Common Chemistry platform’s Water Quality Management (WQM) team which serves all Kemira’s customer segments. The team is responsible for water treatment laboratory tests, pilot runs and R&D projects related to WQM. Katja’s work is divided into two parts: customer service and research projects. "In customer service you need to be flexible and have good problem solving skills because you never know what customers will ask for next. That‘s what makes the job so interesting ".
Katja also likes the working environment at Kemira; "My colleagues are superb and I enjoy working with them. Another thing I like about Kemira is that there are so many possibilities in the company. You can do research work related to almost any kind of industry, it can be for mining, paper, pharmaceuticals, etc".
The future seems bright for Kemira. One global challenge is the scarcity of fresh water and therefore Katja and her R&D colleagues focus on WQM: water quality and quantity management.
