The three most common scenarios in recovery of material from biotechnology broths are:
- The target molecule is expressed outside the producing organism
- The target molecule is expressed inside the producing organism which requires cell rupture before the solid/liquid separation step
- Any of the cases above but the target molecule is recovered by addition of a second often organic solvent.
These may need different approaches with Kemira flocculants and coagulants. In the choice of product it is of importance to take into account downstream processing of both liquid and solid phases.
