As Kemivesi in Estonia acquired by Kemira

Kemira’s Estonian subsidiary AS Kemivesi in Tallinn is now fully owned by Kemira. Kemira bought the remaining one-third of the company’s shares from AS Tallinnan Vesi. The company has a long-term delivery contract for precipitation chemicals with the Tallinn water and sewerage works and the contract is an ongoing one.

This deal is part of Kemira’s strategy aimed at strengthening its position on the Baltic Countries’ markets, which are bound to grow as a consequence of these countries having joined the European Union, which means stricter environmental requirements being imposed on them. “This deal enables Kemira the opportunity to market a wider range of its products and overall services in the Baltic Countries,” says Hannu Luhtala, Vice President of Kemira's water treatment business.

AS Kemivesi was established in 1993. The company manufactures aluminium- and iron-based precipitation chemicals for purifying drinking water and wastewater. The primary market areas are Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania.

Kemira is the world's leading manufacturer of precipitation chemicals. The company's net sales in water treatment chemicals amount to about EUR 270 million per year. Kemwater employs about 1,000 persons in production in Europe, the United States and Asia. The company has production plants in nearly all European countries.
