Divestment of Kemira's calcium chloride business to TETRA Technologies, Inc. confirmed

Kemira's agreement on the sale of its calcium chloride business to the American TETRA Technologies, Inc. has been confirmed. The base purchase price is approximately EUR 35 million.

Kemira will strengthen its four core businesses through organic growth and acquisitions. The Group's areas of growth are in pulp and paper chemicals, water treatment chemicals, industrial chemicals, and paints and coatings. Calcium chloride has not been among Kemira's core business areas.

Kemira has production of calcium chloride in Kokkola, Finland, and in Helsingborg, Sweden. Liquid calcium chloride is produced in Delfzijl, Holland, on a 50/50 joint venture basis with Akzo.

Calcium chloride is used in dust binding and de-icing as well as in the oil drilling and food processing industries.
