The sale of Kemira Engineering Oy, previously a part of Kemira Group, to PIC Engineering Oyj has been confirmed. The deal includes an agreement on cooperation to the effect that PIC will provide engineering services to Kemira as required by Kemira.
In accordance to its strategy Kemira will focus on the development of its four core businesses: pulp and paper chemicals, water treatment chemicals, industrial chemicals and paints and coatings. At the same time the company wants to ensure continued competency in engineering, which is supported by cooperation with PIC Engineering.
PIC Engineering provides consultancy, engineering and project management services for industrial customers. The company’s main business areas are the process industry, product and manufacturing industry, electronics industry and marine technology. The deal will enhance PIC's knowhow in the chemical industry and the company's position as a service provider for the process industry.
PIC is part of the Swedish SWECO group, which is a leading engineering consultancy in the Nordic countries. The group employs a personnel of approx. 3,700 and had net sales of EUR 335 million in 2003. SWECO’s shares are on the O-list of the Stockholm Stock Exchange. The number of personnel employed by PIC is over 1,000 after the deal.
