Kemira GrowHow expands seed sales business

Kemira GrowHow is expanding its seed sales business. The company will build a seed treatment plant in Lithuania to facilitate its business in the Baltic states. Kemira GrowHow has also concluded a distribution agreement with the American Monsanto concerning the latter’s cereal and rape seed varieties.

The seed treatment plant under construction in northern Lithuania is scheduled for completion in autumn 2004. Seed sales were initiated a few years ago. In addition to seed sales, Kemira GrowHow has launched on the market its iSeed technology for coating seeds with nutrients. Attention to sowing seeds serves to enhance quality crop cultivation.

Kemira GrowHow is the Baltic distributor for several international plant breeders. The distribution agreement with Monsanto concerning cereal and rape seed varieties will in future cover Finland as well. The first stage of cooperation will involve launching the malting barley variety Prestige and Olivin winter wheat on the Finnish market. Kemira GrowHow is a long-time partner of Monsanto, a leading international biotechnology corporation, in the marketing of the company’s herbicides. Monsanto is particularly renowned for its Roundup line of agricultural herbicides.

The strategy of Kemira GrowHow is to enhance cooperation throughout the food chain in the Baltic region and to provide integrated solutions to agriculture and the livestock industry.
