Environmental business already accounts for 40% of revenue
Kemira's environmental business grew significantly, and already accounts for about 40% of revenue. We provide solutions, services and products that promote environmental protection. Water treatment and recycling, in particular, represent our core competence.
Almost a hundred reporting sites
Kemira's environmental statistics cover 88 production plants in different parts of the world. In 2007, 11 plants reported for the first time. As a result of major acquisitions, Kemira's total releases took an upward turn in 2007 after a long period of decline. Similarly, capital expenditure on the environmental showed a marked increase.
Greenhouse gas emissions reduced by more than 90%
Kemira has been able to reduce its greenhouse gas emissions by more than 90 % since 1997. This is primarily due to the divestments of business operations and the outsourcing of power generation. Moreover, Kemira has purposefully reduces carbon dioxide emissions and increased energy efficiency.
Kemira's Environmental report deals with the Group companies in line with financial reporting. The report has been assured by Authorized Public Accountant.
