Commitments

An essential part of our voluntary corporate environmental and safety activities is based on international programs launched by business and industry associations. Commitment to these programs requires practices beyond mere compliance with laws and regulations.

Kemira's business principles are in line with the OECD guidelines to multinational companies, including social, environmental and safety aspects. Sustainable development has been part of our environment policy since 1990. Kemira's commitment to Responsible Care (RC) dates back to 1992.

We are committed to:

  • Preventing and minimizing any harmful effects of our operations on the environment, people and property
  • Continuously improving our environmental and safety performance
  • Promoting sustainable development by making efficient use of energy and natural resources
  • The international Responsible Care (RC) program
  • Globalizing our certified management systems

Code of Conduct

The Kemira Code of Conduct contains guidelines on environmental responsibility, including:

Responsible Care

Responsible Care is the chemical industry’s global voluntary initiative under which companies work together to continuously improve their health, safety and environmental performance.

All Kemira Group companies are committed to the Responsible Care program on a national basis. Our sites report a large number of environmental and safety indicators to the national chemical industry organizations.

Within the framework of the RC program, we share best practices with other companies in our line of business. Responsible Care has been integrated in our HSE management and is a guiding principle of our annual public reporting.

Sustainable Development

Kemira became signatory to the Industry Charter for Sustainable Development in 1990. The Charter contains 16 key principles of environmental management.

The Charter was launched by the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC), the leading trade organization worldwide. Kemira is a member of the ICC and contributes actively to its environmental activities.
