Kemira's operations are governed by economic, social and environmental aspects. It is important to us that our business practices are not only profitable, but also have a positive effect on society. We are committed to promoting sustainable development and conducting business ethically. We work for clean water every day because water is one of the most important prerequisites for life and clean water is a basic requirement for us.

Clean water saves lives

Clean water is a human right: the right to life, personal development and an adequate standard of living is meaningless without water. If water is available and rights are respected, however, then water can save lives and even prevent population displacement. This is the goal in places like Ethiopia, where Kemira is working for clean water in partnership with the development co-operation organisation Plan. The program focusing on the survival and development of children in Ethiopia divides its efforts between improving water and sanitation services and preventing diseases of infancy and childhood.

Kemira and Plan: a Partnership for Water

Kemira and Plan work together to safeguard children's rights to water, health and development through special projects in Ethiopia, Bolivia and India. Plan is a development co-operation organisation dedicated to achieving a sustained improvement in the quality of life of children in developing countries. The organisation operates in 66 countries and has adopted 1.3 million godchildren, through which it reaches more than 15 million children and their families in developing countries.
