Pond Treatment
The aggregate industry uses water to wash fine particles and dirt off the stone. The dirty water is stored in a pond. Usually the same pond is the source for wash water for the plant. It is important that the water recycled back to the plant be free of solids that could cause plugging or damage to the plant’s equipment.
Kemira’s treatment programs allow for rapid settling of the solids contaminants and clear water to be recycled back to the plant. We can evaluate the wash water going to the pond to develop a treatment program specific to each location. The chemistries used in the program encompass a wide range of our products. Inorganic coagulants, organic coagulants, blends of inorganic and organic coagulants, and high molecular weight flocculants are all evaluated by the representative dependent upon the customer’s requirements and permit limitations.
