Pharmaceutical grade ammonium acetate is used in the manufacture of insulin and penicillin as well as in chromatography.
Technical grade ammonium acetate is used in the dyeing and printing of textiles, in surface treatment of metals and as a catalyst in rayon fibre productions. It is also used as a gelling agent for rubber latex (e.g. in the production of foam rubber), in the production of vinyl plastics and in the manufacture of industrial detergents.
Ammonium acetate is available as fine white crystals, or as a 50% or 57.5% solution in water.
Ammonium acetate is available in pharmaceutical and technical grades.
