Retention

The benefits of good retention are uncontested. Optimal chemical control of the wet-end through retention solutions is a prerequisite for improved runnability and paper quality. With optimal retention, you can also achieve high productivity at lower cost. Kemira's retention solutions have been developed to help in the most demanding wet-end conditions.
By optimizing retention we can selectively retain fillers, fines, fibers and minerals in the sheet, thus increasing paper quality and improving productivity. Well-controlled retention will also improve dewatering and the retention of other papermaking chemicals, resulting in savings in paper chemical costs.
Our retention solutions include application expertise, tailor-made chemicals, dosing equipment and customer service. They are already in use on many of the world's biggest and fastest running SC, LWC and fine-paper machines. New speed records are being achieved on a constant basis.
The core of Kemira's development work in retention and drainage has concentrated on controlling and decoupling retention, drainage and formation. We are currently introducing KemForm, a completely new retention concept, to address these questions.
