Grain preservation
Grain is preserved with Propcorn Plus up to moisture content of 30% and with Propcorn NC (non-corrosive) up to 24%. Dosage depends on the moisture content and storage time and varies from 6 to 14 liters per ton of preserved material. If the grain is rolled or crushed before preservation then it is recommended to increase the dosage by one to two liters per ton. If whole pulses are preserved then it is recommended to increase dosage by two to three liters per ton. Detailed application rates are described in the product data sheets. It is important to use correct dosage and to mix the additive effectively in the treated grain in order to avoid spoilage caused by molds and yeast. It should also be noted that viscosity of Procorn NC product is much higher than Propcorn Plus due to the higher degree of ammoniation. In addition the viscosity increases as the temperature goes down. This means that the dosing equipment must be calibrated correctly to avoid too low dosing.
