Liquid feeds

Liquid feeds are good growth media for all kinds of spoilage micro-organisms, e.q. E. coli and yeasts. They not only spoil the liquid feed and reduce nutritive value but also possess health risk to the animals. Growth of harmful microbes can be prevented by quickly acidifying liquid feed to reach pH around 4. Low pH also promotes growth of lactic acid bacteria which produce lactic acid in the liquid feed. Lactic acid preserves the feed and is also beneficial to the pigs. Kemira Stabilizer Pig L lowers pH and prevents growth of harmful microbes. The exact dosage is determined by reaching the target pH but is usually between 1 and 2 kg per ton. Kemira Stabilizer Pig S is a solid product for liquid / wet feeds designed especially to prevent yeast growth.
