The liquor that leaves the evaporators is termed syrup. In the production of raw sugars, this is sent directly to the pans for boiling into raw sugar. However, a further step may be added between the evaporators and the pans, called syrup clarification. The direct result of this is the production of sugar with a much higher finished quality and improved boiling in the pans.
We can offer a range of products to support syrup clarification. The well known Talodura* process makes a sugar factory more efficient and cheaper to run by offering greatly reduced massecuite viscosity, improved yield and improved boiling of sugar. Kemira Talomel is the decolourant used to decolourize syrup in the Talodura process. The use of Talomel can reduce the color of the final sugar by up to 50 per cent without the capital expense of new equipment.
Kemira Talofloc clarification has proven to be a very effective separation process for use in the cane sugar refining industry. In fact, much of the world’s cane sugar is refined using our Talo technology. But we can offer more than just the world’s best phosphation. Combine our clarification system with the Talofloc color precipitant, and you can achieve up to 70 per cent color removal – all in a single process step.
