The most important development in the physical beneficiation of iron ore is the pelletizing of concentrates derived from magnetite, hematite, and low-grade ores. The trend of processing lower grade ores will continue. Accordingly, Kemira offers a range of organic binders specifically designed for agglomeration of iron ore pellets. 2. High concentrations of silica reduce porosity, which inhibits the flow of gases through pores, thereby increasing energy requirements, handling costs, and slag levels. Kemira’s organic binders also help with growth behavior, resistance to deformation, cleaner pellet surfaces, reproducibility, and pellet porosity.
