Turbidity is the standard for expressing the amount of suspended solids. It is of certain interest to remove the suspended solids before the water is distributed to the consumer. Aesthetic factors are one reason. Avoiding interference with the following disinfection process is another reason.
Micro-organisms can be shielded by the suspended particles and hence lead to risks of inadequate disinfection efficiency. If the suspended solids contain organic matter, there is a risk that the use of chlorine-based disinfectants can cause an increase of disinfection by-products (DBP). All in all, it is clear that the effective removal of suspended solids is vital for an effective drinking water production process.
We have developed coagulants with unique properties for removing suspended solids. Tailor-made coagulants and flocculants designed for suspended removal can give you exceptionally low residual particle matter. Our long experience in developing pre-polymerized coagulants has made us the number one supplier of coagulants in the world.
