API Treatments

Kemira offers a complete line of products designed to treat API separators. Whether you are trying to remove suspended hydrocarbons, oily sludge, or solids, our treatment solutions bring added value to your operation. Gravity separation depends on the specific gravity differences between water and immiscible oil globules, and allows free oil to be skimmed off the surface of the wastewater.

API Separators are ineffective in treating emulsions without chemical additions. Our treatments include coagulants and flocculants for increasing the break between the oil and water layers, allowing for better oil recovery and cleaner water. We also offer treatment programs for the removed oily sludge layer. We can supply demulsifiers for breaking the emulsions after the oil is skimmed from the API Separator. In many cases, the value of the additional oil recovered more than pays for the entire chemical treatment program.
