We offer complete treatment solutions for your flotation application, whether you have a dissolved air flotation unit (using either pressurized air or nitrogen) or an induced air flotation unit. Flotation is a process that utilizes Henry’s Law, Stokes’ Law, and nuclear theory to separate solids from liquids due to their differences in density. The combination of these three approaches results in efficient separation of particles that begin with a specific gravity at or near that of water.
Contaminants with a specific gravity significantly less than water will rise to the surface without the addition of air. Air is introduced into the units and becomes attached to the particles allowing for separation from the bulk water. Our treatment solutions, utilizing both coagulants and flocculants, can make dramatic improvements in the operation of these units. The addition of a well designed treatment solution will increase efficiency by producing a denser float (increased oil content), cleaner effluent water, and more stable operation.
