Deposit Control

Control deposits - improve performance

Chemical and microbiological deposits can have a negative effect on the pulp and papermaking process and the end product. This results in reduced productivity and paper quality, as well as increased maintenance costs. We have developed a range of Fennochemical solutions for controlling deposits, to help pulp and paper manufacturers maximize productivity and control costs.

There are many potential solutions to each problem. The best solution fits the specific needs of the mill in terms of cost-effectiveness, safety, environmental issues and maximizing productivity. Our innovative problem solving starts by analyzing and understanding the problem before proposing a solution. Solutions may involve Fennochemical additions or process change recommendations. The two approaches for a solution to a deposit problem are prevention and clean up, depending on the severity of the problem and the cost constraints.

Kemira produces Fennoproducts for a wide range of deposits such as slime, pitch, scale, and stickies, and for a broad range of paper grades.

Novel approaches

At Kemira, innovation takes its place both in products and services:

  • We offer a new generation of environmental friendly and cost-efficient biocide solutions including nonbiocidal spore-control, fully degradable oxidizers, and the use of natural compounds.
  • Kemira Fennospec, a new specific coated broke conditioner that forms part of our Whiteness concept for papermaking, while preventing pH drops and increases in COD and conductivity.
  • Kemira Biostrix, a service that enables following the development of biofilm on-line. You can detect changes in the process at an early stage and take action before problems occur.
  • Kemira Hedgehog, an innovative and efficient biocide selection technique that significantly reduces risks in product selection.
  • New microbe count methods give a more accurate picture of the cleanliness of the system.
  • Kemira Organic Deposition, a new test program that reveals the process deposition of pitch and stickies, allows the selection of the right chemicals and the follow-up of its application.
  • Kemira Flyto, a method for detecting disturbing agglomeration phenomena in the process.
  • A newly developed Hexanal potential technique can forecast odor problems.

Our research and development teams are continuously working on new, creative solutions to help our customers gain more accurate control over their processes.
