In addition to protecting the content, cartonboard is an important medium for product information and promotion in retail packaging. Packaging represents a way of influencing consumer behavior. Crucial surface properties are whiteness, opacity and gloss, which are optimized by chemical means. We offer a complete range of process chemicals and functional chemicals to help our customers ascertain the desired product properties.
For this grade we recommend:
- Hydrores Gamma sizing technology – long-term success stories with liquid packaging board
- Kemwhite coatings and fillers – unique new calcium sulfate technology for whiter and lighter board with excellent printing properties
- Ponolith and Levanyl - Tinting colorants and Blancophor – FWA (Fluorescent Whitening Agent)
World demand for cartonboard is forecast to grow by 2,4% per year, reaching 56 million tons by the year 2020. Production growth in mature markets is expected to remain minor, but markets in Eastern Europe, China and the rest of Asia will continue to expand by 4-5% per year.
