For the 4th time, Kemira recognized with Grand Slam Award for railway safety

Our first win in 2012 set the stage for continuous improvement and an ongoing commitment to safety and railcar management best practices. In the intervening years, both Kemira Chemicals, Inc. and Kemira Water Solutions, Inc. have been recognized in 2015 and 2016 by the AAR and we are honored to be receiving the Grand Slam for the third consecutive year.

In 2017, Kemira’s North American operations completed 7,182 shipments of hazardous materials from sites across the United States and Canada without any non-accidental releases. Kemira was also honored with these railway safety awards which contributed to achieving the Grand Slam.

  • CSX Corporation Chemical Safety Excellence Award
  • CN (Canadian National) Railway Safe Handling Award
  • BNSF (Burlington Northern Santa Fe) Railway Company Stewardship Award
  • NS (Norfolk Southern) Railway Thoroughbred Safety Award

“As part of our corporate responsibility program, we focus in three key areas, one of which is responsible operations and supply chain. We want to ensure the safety of our operations from our own manufacturing all the way to delivery at our customer site. We have built a strong safety culture and this type of recognition by the rail industry demonstrates our commitment is more than just words”, says Lucy Pouliot, Senior Manager, Rail Logistics.
