The American Association of Railroads (AAR) presented a Grand Slam Award for 2018 at an awards ceremony held in Washington, D.C.  Kemira has earned this prestigious award for the 5th time since 2013 and for the fourth consecutive year.

Unwavering commitment to safety

“In total, we shipped over 7,000 loaded hazardous material tank cars in 2018 from Kemira sites with zero non-accident releases. This can only be accomplished by an unwavering commitment to safety throughout the company”, says Lucy Pouliot, Senior Manager, Rail Logistics. “A special thank you to all of our employees responsible for loading and securing tank cars, you played a major part in this achievement and thank you to the AAR for this acknowledgement.”

To be eligible for the AAR Grand Slam award, we had to be recognized by at least four Class 1 railroads and have had zero non-accident releases in the previous calendar year. In 2018, we were also proud to be recognized with Norfolk Southern Thoroughbred Chemical Safety Award, CSX Corporation Chemical Excellence Award, Burlington Northern Santa Fe Product Stewardship Award and Canadian National Safe Handling Award.
