Kemira awarded 5th consecutive Grand Slam for safe rail shipping practices

On October 19, 2020, Kemira was recognized for the 5th consecutive year by the American Association of Railroads (AAR) with the Non-Accident Release (NAR) Grand Slam Award. As a leader in safety and safe rail shipping practices, Kemira has received this honor 6 times since 2013 and was one of only 14 companies receiving this award for 2019.

“I am particularly proud to be part of an organization that demonstrates such a strong commitment to safety every day. In 2019, we loaded and shipped over 7,500 hazardous material tanks from our Kemira sites across the United States and Canada with zero non-accident releases”, says Lucy Pouliot, Senior Manager, Rail Logistics. “Once again we extend our thanks to all of our employees responsible for loading and securing tank cars. This would not have been possible without their strong dedication to our safety culture.”

The AAR Grand Slam award is presented to companies, like Kemira, who have been recognized by at least four Class 1 railroads and have had zero non-accident releases in the previous calendar year.
