Kemira to introduce a new transportation management operation model in 2017

Kemira is entering into partnership with Odyssey Logistics & Technology (Odyssey) to optimize its transportation management.

Odyssey is a US based global logistics solutions provider with an over USD 2 billion freight network. Odyssey will start to operate Kemira’s external road transportation activities during first quarter of 2017. The new transportation management operation model will be implemented in EMEA and North America.

“One of the key findings of the BOOST program was that our transportation capabilities – i.e. tools and processes – were not fully optimized for Kemira’s transportation needs. With this new operation model, we are targeting to improve transportation efficiency and the service level to our customers. There are several benefits in this new platform: better visibility of our deliveries, optimized loads and routes, and this will be a major contributor to the BOOST program’s benefits”, says Esa-Matti Puputti, Executive Vice President, Operational Excellence, Kemira Oyj.

“We selected Odyssey as our partner because they have strong expertise in chemical sector transportation and also have high priority for transportation safety”, says Thierry Blomet, Senior Vice President, Sourcing, Kemira Oyj.

Kemira is planning to have the new transportation management operation model implemented by the end of 2017.

In September 14, 2016, Kemira launched an operational excellence program ‘BOOST’ to improve efficiency. Estimated annual savings run-rate from the program are EUR 20-30 million in 2-3 years. BOOST will focus on supply chain process optimization and improved asset utilization.
