Millennium Youth Camp is an international science camp with a goal to improve awareness of Finland as an innovative country in research and technology by introducing Finnish top-level research, higher education and science and technology companies. Organized for the fourth time in Finland, MYCamp has 60 participants from 31 countries. The themes include, for example: water, renewable natural resources and energy.
Innovation and sustainable solutions are in the core of Kemira’s business as well. Ilkka Pollari, Director of Product Stewardship at Kemira, has been the (non-scientific) chairperson for the water teams at all the MYCamps so far. Ilkka has an extensive background in developing safer and more sustainable solutions for water and energy efficiency in industrial and municipal water processes. I have noticed three common traits in the great youngsters I have met on these camps that I would encourage in all of you. They could also make a great guidebook. So: Be curious! The world is full of wonders. Think positive! There’s always a brighter side. Connect! It’s more fun to work together, says Ilkka in his Millennium Youth Camp blog (linkki).
Kemira is one of the sponsors for the camp and the Millennium Technology Prize Competition.
MyCamp 2013 will be held on June 9-16. Read more about the Technology Academy Finland.
