Kemira, a global leader in sustainable chemical solutions for water-intensive industries, today announced that it has secured Canadian Pest Management Regulatory Agency (PMRA) registration for KemConnect® DEX, its chlorine-free, performic acid-based, sustainable disinfection method for waste and process water treatment solution. The approval marks an important milestone in expanding Kemira’s North American sustainable, technology-driven antibacterial portfolio
Available in Europe for over a decade, KemConnect DEX played a key role in wastewater treatment preparations for the 2024 Paris Olympic and Paralympic Games, where it was implemented at the Seine Amont wastewater treatment plant — Europe’s second largest.
“KemConnect DEX offers a more sustainable alternative to traditional chlorine-based treatment, eliminating harmful by-products and breaking down naturally within minutes,” said Tuija Pohjolainen‑Hiltunen, EVP, Water Solutions. “Our technology helps utilities maintain regulatory compliance by automatically controlling performic-acid dosage and sustaining required performance levels.”
KemConnect DEX integrates chemistry with real-time data monitoring, using a compact on-site generator and Kemira’s proprietary algorithm to optimize dosage, increase operational visibility, and improve sustainability performance.
