Kemira Oyj has successfully ramped up production in its new coagulant plant located in Dormagen, Germany. The plant is able to produce the entire range of Kemira’s aluminum-based coagulants that are used for drinking water and waste water treatment.
Kemira’s plant is built on Bayer MaterialScience’s site securing sustainable access to raw material in a long term partnership. Kemira utilizes in the coagulant production hydrochloric acid that is a by-product derived from Bayer MaterialScience’s production of toluene diisocyanate (TDI).
“The new Dormagen plant with the largest polyaluminumchloride (PAX) production capacity in the world is instrumental in sustaining Kemira’s leadership position in the municipal and industrial water treatment market in EMEA. The integration of our production facility and the partnership with Bayer MaterialScience provides us with crucial economic and environmental benefits”, says Remko Goudappel, Regional Business Unit Head for EMEA, Municipal & Industrial, Kemira.
The Dormagen plant is also an important step in consolidating Kemira’s manufacturing footprint for coagulants in EMEA.
