The municipality of Lapinlahti in Eastern Finland has chosen Kemira as its partner in waste water treatment. The contract will last six years, starting from August 1, 2007. A six-year continuance is optional. The total value of the contract, including VAT, is approximately EUR 5 million.
The service comprises the management and operational development of the waste water treatment plants in the town of Lapinlahti and the village of Alapitkä, 19 waste water pumping stations and four rain water pumping stations. Treated waste water will be channeled to Lake Onkivesi, whereas sludge will be incinerated by Lapinlahden Ekolämpö Oy.
Kemira has developed its service models towards delivering complete solutions, accepting broader responsibility for its customers’ water and waste water treatment and sludge treatment. “This service by Kemira will guarantee us the availability of professional and expert plant personnel and a large support organization necessary for development operations”, comments Kari Virranta, Municipal Manager.
