Kemira joins UN Global Compact Forward Faster Initiative to accelerate the progress of UN Sustainable Development Goals

Kemira has joined the UN Global Compact Forward Faster initiative, a global effort that unites businesses to take measurable, credible, and ambitious action to accelerate the progress on the UN’s 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Kemira is committed to building water resilience through its participation. This aligns with its earlier involvement in the Open Call on Business Leaders to Accelerate Water Action, initiated during the UN Water Conference in New York in March 2023.

“Water scarcity is a serious issue with climate change altering the dynamics of water on the planet,” said Rasmus Pinomaa, Director, Corporate Sustainability of Kemira. “We need to apply all existing solutions, innovate new solutions and engage in partnerships, to secure the sustainable circulation of water. We are proudly part of this initiative to drive concrete water action.”

The Forward Faster initiative was officially launched on 18 September 2023 at the UN Private Sector Forum, which is part of the 78th session of the UN General Assembly in New York. A commitment to Water Resilience means a company must build water resilience across global operations and supply chains and join hands to achieve collective positive water impact in at least 100 vulnerable prioritized water basins by 2030.

Kemira has been proactive in addressing water-related challenges. It has a steadfast commitment to the CEO Water Mandate, where it strives to promote water stewardship best practices. Kemira’s goal is to elevate its water management to a Leadership level, as determined by the CDP Water Security scoring methodology, by the end of 2025. In addition, Kemira and its partners work together to apply innovations to secure a safe and clean water circularity.
