Kemira launches a new chrome and aldehyde free tanning system Tanfor T that gives superior results compared to the current aldehyde based wet white and in many respects also to wet blue leathers.
This revolutionary sustainable leather tanning system outperforms traditional tanning systems when it comes to dyeability and requires only minor adjustments to the traditional production process of leather. Tanfor T can be used for all major applications like automotive, upholstery, shoes and garments.
The shrinkage temperature reached with Tanfor T is 75° – 85°C. Compared to traditional wet white Tanfor T also offers significant savings in post tanning. Only minor retanning and fat liquoring adjustments are required compared to wet blue. Furthermore, tanning with Tanfor T produces no hazardous waste, and COD values of waste water are lower than the state of the art.
Tanfor T is based on compounds of aluminum and silicon, and organic acids that are perfectly safe for humans and the environment. It offers a perfect dyeability due to the brilliant whiteness of the Wet Bright intermediate and color fastness in time. Due to the mineral character of Tanfor T, there is a high dye affinity, which gives very bright colors in all leather applications.
Tanfor T will be officially launched at the Tanning Tech fair in Bologna, Italy on October 9-11, 2012.
