Kemira Oyj and PUB, Singapore’s national water agency, have agreed to enter into a strategic alliance to conduct research and development in water research. Kemira and PUB will collaborate in the areas of raw water, used water, effluent and sludge treatment. Under the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), Kemira and PUB will conduct applied research, share knowledge and build joint capabilities that leverage one another’s resources.
In June 2010 Kemira also started a research and development cooperation with the Singapore Membrane Technology Centre at the NTU with the objective to enhance used water treatment and purification. The goal of the project is to design a more efficient water production process with a higher recovery rate, lower energy consumption and less waste volume. These projects support Kemira’s strategy to grow profitably in the Asia-Pacific region.

As one of the leading water chemistry companies Kemira is well placed to partner PUB in the areas of advanced water treatment. Kemira’s wide product portfolio of chemistries caters to different water treatment applications for municipal and industrial customers ranging from potable-, process- and effluent water to sludge treatment” says Mr Kaj Jansson, Vice President, R&D and Technology, Kemira Oyj.
“As part of the government’s drive to grow Singapore into a hub for water technologies, we actively seek research and development (R&D) investments and encourage companies to make Singapore a global test-bed for new and emerging technologies.
