Kemira is expanding its commitment to the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) with the addition of SDG8; Decent work and economic growth. This will complement our existing commitments to SDG6 (clean water and sanitation), SDG12 (responsible consumption and production) and SDG13 (climate action) and bring a bigger emphasis on social and economic sustainability.
SDG8 perfectly aligns with Kemira’s strategy and sustainability focus, emphasizing both sustainable economic growth and social sustainability.
For Kemira decent work means, that we focus on building a diverse and inclusive workplace, we take human rights seriously throughout our value chains and empower our people to ensure that we can take the next step on our sustainability journey.
The inclusion of SDG8 further supports our path towards profitable growth, by targeting sustained economic growth that is decoupled from environmental degradation. Our commitment to this target will reinforce our efforts to achieve our strategic goals.
The SDGs are vital guiding principles not only globally but also in our own operations, and thus we see the addition of SDG8 as an important and necessary step to fully prioritize the areas where we make the biggest difference; improving safety, caring about people, managing water responsibly, increasing circularity and reducing climate impacts. This way, we can ensure that sustainability is at the heart of everything we do.
