Ensuring uninterrupted water treatment is paramount

Water is our most vital commodity. Access to safe drinking water and sanitation is, together with sufficient water for food security and livelihoods, the main focus of water security in the society. To help water treatment plant operators do their job, even in turbulent times, is of crucial importance. This also means that sufficient treatment chemistries, logistics and labor must be available.

Water treatment chemicals, such as inorganic coagulants and organic polymers, play a fundamental role in water treatment processes. Kemira’s products are used to treat over 320 million people’s annual water. With chemistry, the current level of safe fresh water supply and sustainable wastewater treatment in urban areas can be maintained.

Through our work with cities’ and municipalities’ water treatment plants, we ensure citizens have access to the clean, safe, and affordable drinking water they need. Chemical precipitation and the removal of solid impurities is one of the key treatment steps to enable a proper and safe drinking water for public supply.

The chemical treatment of municipal wastewater with chemistry prevents inorganic and organic impurities from entering our water courses. We help municipalities and industries ensure that the wastewater is clean and safe to discharge.

Reliable and resilient supply network

One key item our customers have highlighted in their feedback and complimented our performance on, is the reliable and resilient supply network of water treatment chemicals we have in place. Our extensive network of manufacturing sites has been built with this customer need in mind. Reliability is also built up as a result of the various manufacturing sites working together. If there are any challenges in a certain market, the other production sites can step in.

Our security of supply has been tested through many turbulent times – interruptions in raw material supply, political instability, labor and logistics market disturbances and most recently through a global pandemic. Through these learnings, we know how to make and execute robust contingency plans for uncertain times. In a global crisis, the importance of collaboration and prioritization across different actors and value-chains is highlighted. That’s why we put an extremely high value on the good collaboration with local and regional government as well as with all our network partners – thanking everyone for going the extra mile today to ensure uninterrupted access to safe water.
