Kemira has restarted the production of Polyaluminum Chloride (PAX) at the Krems production site in Austria. PAX product line was restarted mainly due to the increasing demand for water treatment in Central and Eastern Europe. Polyaluminum chloride is an aluminum-based inorganic coagulant, which is used in drinking water and waste water treatment to remove impurities from the water. It is produced from aluminum hydrate and hydrochloric acid.

As a leading water chemistry company, Kemira wants to operate near its customers. “In order to serve our customers in Central and Eastern Europe more efficiently, and in a more sustainable way, we have decided to revitalize the production assets of aluminum-based coagulants in our Krems production site”, says Remko Goudappel, Vice President Municipal, EMEA, Kemira Oyj.

The Krems site will serve Kemira’s customers in Central and Eastern Europe. Kemira’s strengths include high-level application know-how, a comprehensive range of water treatment chemicals, and reliable customer deliveries.
